About
Basketball Sport Ministry is a Christian charitable organization founded by Mr. Siu Yui Chi in 1987. Through basketball activities, it has nurtured the healthy growth of thousands of teenagers, turning the basketball court into a boundless classroom and an open counseling space.
Over the years, it has partnered with churches, primary and secondary schools, and community centers to serve youth through basketball teams, training programs, recreation days, and leadership development activities.
Our department
The Basketball Sport Ministry is currently divided into two departments: the Basketball Division and the Recreation Division.
- 🏀 *Basketball Division*
Every week, the Basketball Division organizes free basketball classes in public housing estates, leads school basketball teams and interest groups, and partners with churches to carry out basketball ministry.
Each year, it hosts a unique event called the Upside-Down Basketball Tournament, which provides equal opportunities for players of all ages, body types, genders, abilities, and experience levels to participate and shine through games and activities.
The division also trains volunteers and coaches to encourage broader participation and involvement.
- 🎯 *Recreation Division*
The Recreation Division collaborates with various schools and churches to organize a wide range of activities, including leadership training, war games, recreational basketball, parent-child events, and camps.
In recent years, both the Basketball and Recreation Divisions have focused on nurturing the next generation. This vision has led to the development of training programs such as the “Junior Intern” and “Seed Coach” initiatives.*
We mentor young people in various areas including basketball skills, activity leadership, personal growth, faith-based values, and team spirit—walking closely with them through every stage of their journey.
Both divisions also collaborate on other large-scale projects such as camps, major school events, basketball tournaments, overseas mission trips, and training courses.

Basketball Sport Ministry is a Christian based ministry, reading the needs of the time and responding God’s callings through basketball and creative recreational activities with the aim of sharing the gospel message, experiencing faith and facilitating growth in both individual and communal life
Free Basketball Class in Lower Income Family District
In 2018, we started to organize weekly free basketball courses for the kids from the lower income families in Kai Tak district. We are serving around 30 families in the area at the moment but the waiting list to participate in the basketball course is still long. We want to share the joy of playing basketball to everyone who is interested, no matter their age, gender, skill level, family background and economic status.
And then we started to have another free basketball weekly courses in Tin Tsui Wai, On Tai Estate, and Shek Kip Mei as well. Our coaches faithfully teach basketball to the kids every week. And we will have creative basketball tournament, hiking, and camps during some public holidays, summer and Christmas for all the players from different areas.
We would like to grow with the young people and give them positive values in life through our training and activities. Therefore, we start leadership training for those who are potential and interested to be leaders

Basketball Sport Ministry (abbreviated as BSM) is a Christian charitable organization. Founded in 1987, it nurtures the healthy growth of thousands of young people through basketball activities. Over the years, by co-organizing basketball teams, training classes, recreational days, leadership training, and other activities, it has partnered with churches, primary and secondary schools, and community centers to serve youth. In 2001, it expanded to a broader recreational interaction platform, introducing diverse wargame activities (such as airsoft, paintball, water guns, and gel balls), camps, guidance games, and recreational basketball. By integrating experiential learning, adventure counseling, and interpretive techniques, it more effectively helps young people overcome personal challenges and promotes the healthy growth of body, mind, and spirit.
We are a charitable organization registered under the tax ordinance. Donations over HK$100 are eligible for a receipt for tax deduction purposes.
